Transparency by Coexya, a 360° offer for more transparency, traceability and auditability

An offer that meets the traceability and transparency needs and regulatory challenges of industrial sectors, trade federations, companies and supply chain professionals.

Transparency by Coexya is a complete service & software solution for implementing digital traceability of all types of goods.

Coexya has developed Transparency, an offer that helps industrial sectors, trade federations, companies and supply chain professionals to build robust and reliable information systems that provide more transparency on their products, and deliver to the various stakeholders the information they need.

More specifically, Transparency by Coexya is designed to help players in the same industry cross-reference and share their data efficiently, without compromising confidentiality.

A response to new consumer demands, regulatory and ESG issues, and to prepare for the arrival of the DPP – Digital Product Passport.

Getting transparent, detailed information on the origin and manufacturing of products is now a mandatory for both consumers and regulators.

  • Regulations: all sectors of activity are regulated, but for some, compliance with increasingly stringent regulations is becoming one of the main cost factors. You need to be able to prove the origin of your textile raw materials, know and verify the carbon consumption of your industrial subcontractors, trace the production chain of a food product, check the proper distribution of health products, monitor the recycling rate of your electric batteries, or recall a dangerous food product whose distribution you hardly know. And if you already find the reporting associated with the new ESG standards burdensome, get ready – this is just the beginning! Did you know, for example, that the European Commission is preparing the arrival of a Digital Product Passport (DPP)?

  • Certifications, Labels: if it’s not the government that requires transparency, it’s often your customers. Whether you’re selling to private customers who care about the quality of their purchases, or to professionals who respect their own constraints, you often need to show, explain and prove the background to your products and processes. In many markets, it is now even necessary to be audited by certifying agencies or labels if you hope to win a position, and sometimes to stand out from the competition. The manufacturer without the right ISO standard will no more survive than the small organic food producer unable to prove its good practices.

  • Fraud and counterfeiting: while some sectors are fairly well protected, others are particularly affected by the effects of fraud and crime, whether they involve a large number of small independent acts, or organized networks. Second-hand aeronautical spare parts sold as younger than they really are, under a false background. Counterfeit luxury goods. Horsemeat sold as beef. Social security and provident fund fraud involving health products that are reimbursed but not purchased. What all these frauds have in common is asymmetrical information sharing, which could be resolved with more interoperable information systems. Enabling customers to know the background of a product with absolute accuracy, and to verify it for themselves, with the right evidence.

Coexya, a complete expertise to support you in your transparency and traceability issues

The multi-expertise of Coexya’s teams enables us to adapt to any environment and to respond to a wide range of issues, in particular the sharing of information between several players.

In addition to its experience in the use of blockchain technology, the group has historical know-how in the fields of :

  • Data processing
    • Multi-source, multi-format data collection
    • Quality processing, transformation, consolidation
    • Automatic analysis (AI), manual analysis, data processing, data distribution
  • Fighting fraud, anti-counterfeiting and fraud
    • Data mining, identifying cases of fraud
    • Know how to build and follow up cases
    • Examples of solutions: I2 (data mining), Dark Diver (dark web search engine, Case Manager )

The choice of Blockchain technology to ensure traceability and authenticity

Transparency By Coexya also relies on the innovative use of blockchain technology and distributed registries to address two major needs of these projects:

  • Secure data sharing
    • Whether in a public or private context, blockchain enables data to be shared transparently and in real time. It allows the creation of unique repositories between different players, without requiring changes to existing information systems. Whenever possible, we prefer to use GS1 identifiers and standards.
    • Distributed registers can generally be adapted to the constraints of multi-stakeholder projects: confidential data, regulated data, possible competition between participants, etc.
Distributed registries come in many variants, with or without crypto, with or without confidentiality / permissioning, public or confidential…and each project gives rise to an appropriate choice.

  • Digital proof generation
    • Information registered in a blockchain is signed and time-stamped, and cannot be erased. It is a powerful tool for document certification, making it possible to prove the origin or authenticity of a file, whatever its nature (invoice, purchase orders, certificates, etc.). In addition to documents, we also appreciate time-stamping data. In this way, an audit trail (a “software log “) can become immutable, and be totally or partially shared with auditors or customers.
    • By combining the two concepts of blockchain data sharing and the generation of associated digital proofs, it is possible to build genuine digital product passports across a multi-player value chain. A producer can verify the fair allocation of the final sales price by a point of sale. A car manufacturer can demand proof from its N-1 suppliers of the origin of the raw materials used by N-2 suppliers. A clothing manufacturer can display on the label the location of the last stages of manufacture without fear of being mistaken. An energy distribution network can prove to its customers the green origin of its electricity.
    • And of course, all this evidence can be made available to market verification authorities, if required, to facilitate the acquisition and renewal of market standards and labels.

In terms of blockchain, our preferred technologies are IBM Sterling  Transparent SupplyHyperledger Fabric, Ethereum and Tezos. We also use the Tediji solution for our certification needs.
